Discussion: The Sims 3 Store

So, as you may or may not be aware, when Sims 3 comes out (IN THREE WEEKS!! *excited*), there will be a Sims 3 Store site already ready, with things to buy already.

While there are not many details about how The Sims 3 Store WILL work, it is thought to be likely that it will operate much like The Sims 2 Store. Downloadable clothes, hair styles, objects et. al. will be placed on the Sims 3 Store for purchase. To purchase things off the Sims 3 Store, you can use a credit card to purchase SimPoints (I believe $1 = 100 points) and then use those SimPoints to download things.

So, Sim Fans, what are your thoughts on The Sims 3 Store? Do you think it's a bad idea? Do you think it's a good idea?

The Store has always rubbed me the wrong way... it seems to me to be a bit of a moneygrabber. I hear the Collector's Edition includes some store credit (£6 for the UK one), but I'm getting Standard and probably won't buy anything else save expansions when they come out. I loathe micropayments for microcontent. :(

I do agree that the Sims 3 Store is all about getting that little extra money out of you.

I've used the Sims 2 Store in the past, and it's easy to suddenly spend alot of money, there. My one complaint is that, compared to a Stuff Pack, the Store was always pretty expensive. $1 per item was pretty typical...
