Game Plan

What's your game plan for the day/weekend/week when you first get Sims 3?

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon and got 2 day delivery (the stores around here typically put out new games on the shelves Friday) and expect to get it on Friday.

My game plan? Install it when I get home, order pizza for me and the kids and play all weekend long! Already warned some of my friends on the game I play online (City of Villains) that I might disappear for a while. At least I got a 3 day weekend next weekend and can cram in some game play then.

First going to make a sims of me (see this entry) then going to make a sims of one of my original characters I write about.

I'll probably have to fight off the kids, though my youngest has been playing Sims 2 this weekend (I have all the expansion packs for that one) on the other computer. My oldest asked me if I had Sims 2 of my computer and I told her no, she asked if she could install it and I said no. That baby is for Sims 3, one of the reasons why I got a new computer ^_^

Well, I've already warned the wife that if she has delusions of me doing much work-wise, she's deluding herself.. HOWEVER..

I'm going to get the Prima Strategy Guide. I already plan on spending the first.. week or so.. just getting a feel for the new game. That is, I'll probably just poke around and do this and that.

Things on the list:

1) Build Sims of my Wife and I (Link)
2) Build a nice home for us
3) Explore the town, find out what's to do and where to do it all
4) Get jobs
5) Explore the skills
6) Read the Guide
7) Get the wife pregnant and experience Childhood.

Then once I've explored it all, I'll probably do a retcon and begin anew, building my neighborhood up the way I want to...

Run to the mall to buy it with daughter and then run back. Wait desperately for daughters nap. Pray that she actually naps. If she doesn't wait until hubby gets home and hand him the baby before running upstairs to my computer to install game (if I haven't already) and then play until baby freaks out about no Mommy.

As for what I'll be doing in game, I always load up one of the families the game ships with and play them for a little bit until I am comfortable with the game and then I'll make my first couple. I'll work on them until their kids are adults and then start working on making the neighborhood the way I want or make a custom one if they allow it.

Anyone know if custom neighborhoods are in Sims 3 or are you locked into what they provide like in Sims original?
